About Tell Katy

As parents we need to talk with our children about child sexual abuse (CSA), because when we don’t talk about it, we teach kids we don’t talk about it.

Linda Newfield
Founder, Tell Katy
Is “Telly Katy” a person?
No. Tell Katy is a code word concept to provide children with a simple phrase for them to disclose they have experienced sexual abuse
Is Tell Katy a secret code?
No, it is not meant to be a secret, the ‘Tell Katy’ code should be known by everyone involved in your child’s life. The greater the number of people aware of the code, the easier it becomes for children to remain safe and obtain assistance when needed.
Is Parent supervision required while children use the app?
The application is crafted to help children easily understand the information presented. Additionally, it serves as a tool for parents to facilitate discussions, develop awareness, and provide answers to any questions their children might have. It is also an excellent resource to strengthen the bond between parent and child and encourage open communication.
Do they need to watch all the videos for their age group?
It is advised that each child views all the videos designated for their age group. While it may be overwhelming to watch them all at once, the advantage of having this content in an app is its round-the-clock availability. Additionally, if the app is installed on their phone, they can revisit any video whenever necessary, be it in a year or more, especially if they find themselves in a distressing situation.
What Others Are Saying

“ My girls had already had some personal safety education, but after watching the TK videos, it raised topics they had not learned and helped me answer some questions they asked. Quite comprehensive. Thank you ”

“As a Speech Pathologist and mother of 4, finding a way to have the “tricky” but very necessary conversations with my children is daunting to say the least. Having discovered the Tell Katy videos we watched them together, the kids thoroughly enjoyed them, without any wriggling – and asked for more!!!! Each video prompted some really great conversation in our home and developed some really important foundation skills and understanding in such critical topics to keep my babies safe. The language was very child-friendly, safe, and respectful, as were the animations! Tell Katy is a very necessary resource and should be in every parent’s tool kit!”

“These videos helped me start difficult conversations with my 3 teenage boys – great program! ”

“This app was recommended to me by a parenting blogger, and I am so grateful I installed it. I tried educating my boys about personal safety and felt they weren’t really understanding what I was telling them. This app, educates them with easy to understand videos. My youngest one keeps replaying them lol. Really like this app – thank you!”
